“How can I lead others through change when I have no clarity myself?”
“I can’t motivate my team to go through yet another transition!”
“In this safe space I want to admit that I am exhausted dealing with all these changes!”
These are sound bytes from a recent group coaching session. Yes, change fatigue is a thing & it’s on the rise. Chances are you have felt it too. To an even greater degree if you are an executive responsible for leading others.
When faced with change that is perpetual & potentially disruptive, traditional change management approaches prove ineffective. 𝐀𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢.𝐞., 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞. Change endurance is about learning to tap into your inner resourcefulness.
To enable this, I designed a self-reflection exercise. It helped the leaders to process their thoughts & emotions regarding the change, identify their resistance, adopt a positive attitude and have a clear idea of next steps.
Sharing the exercise in the visual below.
👉 Try it out and let me know –
What became clear for you?
What else have you done to lead yourself & others through constant change?
